Giorgio Chiellini has applauded Juventus' decision to sign Leonardo Bonucci during the summer.

The latter was netted from Bari and Genoa, the clubs who co-owned him, to play alongside Chiellini in the back four.

And after a few initial difficulties, the Italian international is starting to look like a shrewd piece of Bianconeri business.

"Leo is doing really well," Chiellini told Tuttosport on Friday.

"At the start the phenomenal Milos Krasic relegated all of the new signings to the second tier, but all of the buys were spot on – and that includes Leo."

The Chiellini-Bonucci partnership has looked a little exposed at times this term, but things have been steadily improving.

"Our understanding is getting better, it is just a matter of time," Chiellini, who also partners Bonucci for Italy, added.

"With Nicola Legrottaglie we know what each of us would do with our eyes shut and soon that will be the case with Bonucci too.

"There is a great feeling between us. He is getting better alongside me, but I am also getting better alongside him.

"Our characteristics are a little different. He's very cool when he looks to build up play from the back, whereas I'm a bit more concrete. But these diversities stimulate us."
