Juventus sporting director Federico Cherubini revealed the Bianconeri completely ‘changed their plan’ when Cristiano Ronaldo said he wanted to leave the Allianz Stadium.
The Old Lady director spoke of the Portugal captain’s farewell this summer, as Ronaldo left the club after three seasons.
Ronaldo re-joined Manchester United after several months of speculation regarding the 36-year-old’s future in Turin, but Cherubini said the Bianconeri had to change plan last minute.
Juventus re-signed Moise Kean from Everton to replace the superstar and Cherubini revealed he is part of ‘a plan to continue winning with a different project’.
“When Cristiano told us he wanted to leave, we immediately thought of anticipating the future,” Cherubini told Tuttosport.
“Kean is not the replacement of the Portuguese striker, but one of the pawns in a plan to continue winning with a different project.”
Ronaldo, who won the Golden Boot at the Euros this summer, left Juventus after scoring 101 goals in 134 games with Juve, where the five-time Ballon d’Or winner picked up two Scudetti and one Coppa Italia.
