Juventus hope the trial that led to a 15-point deduction in January will be cancelled after Federico Cherubini and Fabio Paratici won an appeal that will allow the Bianconeri’s defence lawyers to access a ‘secret document’ the FIGC Prosecutor sent COVISOC in April 2021.

It’s merely a technical matter, but Juventus hope it will be crucial in their request to have a 15-point penalty revoked. The Serie A giants formally lodged their appeal to CONI on February 23, 2023.

Multiple reports in Italy claim Lazio‘s TAR have accepted an appeal from Cherubini and former director Paratici which will allow Juventus’ defence lawyers to scrutinise a document that had been kept secret until now.

It is called ‘Note 10940′ and refers to a formal request made by COVISOC to the FIGC Prosecutor on April 14, 2021. In this document, COVISOC, Italy’s Supervisory committee on professional football clubs, asked the FIGC Prosecutor for clarification on Juventus’ alleged inflated transfer values.

According to Juventus lawyers, April 21, 2021, is when the proceeding was open. From that date, the Prosecutor had 60 days for investigations and 30 days for trial registration.

This means that all the documents acquired after July 14, 2021, that led to a 15-point penalty, would not have been usable.

It is still early to know if this will be enough to cancel the trial and the resulting ruling. Surely, now COVISOC have seven days to send the ‘Note 10940’ to Juventus lawyers.
