Chelsea are reportedly ready to give Italy international Emerson Palmieri a pay rise after a strong start to the season.

Emerson has broken through as Chelsea’s first-choice left-back under Frank Lampard, while he started Italy’s 3-1 win in Armenia on Thursday.

With that in mind, Gazzetta dello Sport’s Nicolo Schira claims the Blues have opened contract talks with the 25-year-old.

Although his current deal does not expire until 2022, Schira writes the London club want to extend it by a further year.
