Chelsea may get one of their new defenders in Serie A, having targeted several centre-backs in Italy, including Matthijs de Ligt and Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Blues saw Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leave for free at the end of their contracts, so they need two new centre-backs in the summer.

According to the latest reports in Italy, they may get at least one in Serie A. The Blues are in talks with Juventus for Matthijs de Ligt, but the Old Lady has turned down their offer of €40m plus Timo Werner or Christian Pulisic. However, the Dutchman wants to leave the club, so negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing.

Napoli‘s Kalidou Koulibaly is also a target for the Premier League giants. Il Corriere della Sera and Sky Sport Italia confirm that his agent Fali Ramadani met the Blues’ directors this week. Koulibaly has rejected a contract extension with Napoli. His current deal runs out in a year.

Thomas Tuchel’s side also monitors Inter‘s Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij. Like Koulibaly, Skriniar and De Vrij see their contracts expire in June 2023.

However, PSG are in advanced talks for Skriniar but have yet to match Inter’s €70m asking price. De Vrij’s price tag is lower, but Inter won’t accept less than €15-20m for the Netherlands international.

Football Italia understands that Skriniar has already agreed to sign a contract extension with Inter but won’t stand against a sale, while the Nerazzurri haven’t yet offered a new deal to De Vrij.

Torino‘s Gleison Bremer is also an option for Chelsea, but Inter are leading the race having already agreed personal terms with the Brazilian defender. The Nerazzurri will make their offer to Torino once Skriniar leaves.
