Chelsea target Onana after Milan block Maignan

Chelsea have reportedly set their sights firmly on Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana, who was already linked with Manchester United, after hearing Milan want €90m for Mike Maignan.

The shot-stopper impressed in the Champions League Final with several big saves until he was beaten by Rodri’s only goal of the game in Istanbul for Manchester City.

According to the Evening Standard newspaper, Chelsea have now made Onana their primary target for the goal and face competition from Manchester United, who had already been tracking the Cameroon international.

He was signed as a free agent from Ajax last summer and made an immediate impact on the side that reached the Champions League Final, won the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana.

The same report states that Chelsea had originally tried to go for Maignan, but Milan wanted circa €90m to part with the France international goalkeeper.

The asking price for Onana is likely to be considerably lower, but still a hefty €50m.

Inter already have a replacement lined up in the form of Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
