Chelsea are determined to get their new defender from Serie A, preparing a new offer for Juventus centre-back Matthijs de Ligt, but also battling PSG for Inter star Milan Skriniar.

The Juve defender is on the market after failing to agree on a contract extension and expressing dissatisfaction with the general direction the Bianconeri are going in.

They finished fourth in the last two Serie A seasons and fans continue to criticise coach Max Allegri’s playing style.

There is a €120m release clause in De Ligt’s contract, so Juventus want at least €100m cash, though that can be cut down with player exchanges.

Multiple sources reported the initial Chelsea offer of cash plus striker Werner was rejected, but now Goal.com maintain another meeting is planned for Tuesday or at latest Wednesday, with different players to be put forward.

However, Sky Sport Italia also claim that Chelsea have burst onto the scene to battle Paris Saint-Germain for Inter centre-back Skriniar.

The asking price is €70m and so far PSG have offered €60m plus bonuses, but many sources assumed a deal would be fairly imminent once the Ligue 1 giants secured their new manager.

Now Gianluca Di Marzio maintains Chelsea are also in the running for the Slovakia international, having previously asked for information during the negotiations for Romelu Lukaku’s return to San Siro on loan.

It is reported Skriniar has already accepted a €7.5m per season salary at PSG.

  1. Interesting if true, what will happen to christiansen at chelsea – we wont want to play on the bench

  2. Christensen is leaving Chelsea. Barca cannot register him as they have not been given the go ahead. Money talks and they have none. Inter will be fine as they will get Bremer. If Juventus sells the Dutch Phil Jones, it will not be at full price. They will not get Kante or the better players. This is Juve of today and they do not make good decisions. PhD Max might even ask for Silva as he is young and they know each other from their Milan days. Throw in Acerbi and Juve have a defensive unit safe for a decade.

  3. This is epic. These comments!
Chelsea are the next club with relatively limited funds to be in talks with virtually any player on the market. Skriniar is PSG-bound; they keep stalling the deal to put Torino under pressure – while Tottenham helps to distract them with a ghost interest for Bremer. Good times!

  4. @LORD keep them posts coming. The very few people that actually have substance and a varied opinion.

@Gio you wasted your woke oxygen, obviously triggered by his comments. He has a point and is on the money with the Danish defender. Come on at least give your take. My opinion is straightforward. English clubs will take the best talent in the league time and again. The new tv deals will give them 6 million pounds to divide amongst them.

With those numbers it is impossible to compete with them now and in the future. With Italian clubs not trusting youth, no infrastructure projects and lack of youth development, where is the plan?

  5. @kanwar the plan is to continue sinking the italian football, and the plan is going well keeping a complete useless guy as Mancini in the national team. So far so good!

  6. @Kanwar you meant to say 6 billion. Very true and good points you made. Italian football mirrors the state of the how the country operates. Red tape, drama, high youth unemployment and a stagnant economy. Until they get a plan and stick with it nothing will change. Remember when Germany restructured their youth sectors and all the big clubs pulled together after having a national team that hit rock bottom. Italy should look to that model as the money is not there. Will they do it, doubt it.
