La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Chelsea are ‘ready’ to pay Victor Osimhen’s release clause at the end of the season.

The Nigerian forward released an interview with CBS on Tuesday, claiming to have already made a decision regarding the ‘next step’ of his career for the end of the season.

Wednesday’s printed edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, on page 18, claims Napoli were left ‘surprised’ by Osimhen’s interview as it had not been agreed with the club.

Gazzetta confirms Osimhen’s desire to leave the Stadio Maradona at the end of the season and reports Chelsea are ‘ready’ to pay his release clause in the summer and ‘cover him in gold’ by offering him a lucrative salary.

Osimhen has recently signed a contract extension with Napoli until June 2026, but the new deal includes a clause in the region of €120-130m.

According to Gazzetta, the clause is set at €130m and both Osimhen and his entourage pushed to include it in the new contract to join a Premier League club in the summer.
