Chelsea are reportedly set to decide against making the signing of on-loan Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria permanent, meaning he will return to Turin in the summer.
Zakaria joined Chelsea on a season-long loan from the Bianconeri in September with the option to make the deal permanent for a fee of around €25m.
Having struggled with hamstring injuries since his arrival at Stamford Bridge, the 26-year-old has been limited to just 10 appearances in all competitions, with six coming in the Premier League.
According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport Germany, the West Londoners have rejected the chance to take the Swiss international on a permanent deal.
Chelsea are set to look elsewhere for reinforcements in their defensive midfield department.
Zakaria originally signed for Juve with six months left on his Monchengladbach contract in a deal worth €8.6m.
Zakaria’s current contract with Juve runs until the summer of 2026. He has scored one goal in 15 appearances with the Bianconeri.
