According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Chelsea have approached Barcelona for their midfield star Frenkie De Jong, so Jorginho could sign with Juventus in the summer.

Barcelona are going through a dramatic financial situation and may need to sell one of their top players at the end of the season.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are considering signing their star midfielder De Jong, although Chelsea seem to be leading the race, having already sounded out the midfielder’s availability.

De Jong is not Juventus’ only target in midfield. Chelsea’s Jorginho has been monitored for a long time in Turin and if De Jong moves to Stamford Bridge, the Old Lady will have more chances to sign the Italy international who sees his contract expire in June 2023.

The Serie A giants have already used most of their summer transfer budget to sign Dusan Vlahovic for €75m. Therefore, they will be able to complete big-money moves over the summer only if they sell some of their players.

Matthijs de Ligt is regarded as one who could leave, with Chelsea also keen on the Dutchman.

If de Ligt leaves Turin, Juventus would consider Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly and Alessio Romagnoli. The latter is already eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement as his contract runs out in the summer.
