Chelsea linked Dybala willing to sign new Roma contract – report

Paulo Dybala is reportedly willing to snub interest from the Premier League by signing a new contract with Roma this summer.

The 29-year-old Argentinian forward shined in his debut season in the Italian capital, scoring 18 goals and providing eight assists across 38 total appearances.

Dybala’s impressive campaign saw him attract the attention of Chelsea, who contacted his agent recently to start exploring a possible move.

As detailed by Calciomercato.com, Dybala is keen to stay with Roma and his agent Jorge Antun is in the Italian capital, waiting to meet with director Tiago Pinto to discuss his client’s contract.

The 2022 World Cup winner has a low release clause in his contract – €12m for foreign clubs and €20m for Italian sides.

The idea is to offer Dybala a new contract with a higher base salary, removing the release clause in the process. He could be offered up to €6m net per season, with almost €2m in add-ons.

Owner Dan Friedkin would be happy to see the Argentinian forward pen a new contract, aware that he’s both a key technical asset and an important marketing tool – the recently released home shirts for the coming campaign with his name and number on the back have already sold out.
