Chelsea are considering making a move for Milan forward Rafael Leao before the transfer window closes, reports from England suggest.

The Times details how the Blues are currently in talks with Everton for 21-year-old English winger Anthony Gordon, with rumours of a €60m offer, but they’re also closely monitoring Leao as they keep their options open.

The Portuguese forward has failed to impress in the opening two league games and his current contract expires in 2024, so Milan could decide to cash in this summer. Leao was an important piece of the puzzle in last year’s successful Scudetto run, however, and Stefano Pioli is a fan of the forward.

Reports from Italy suggest that no talks are ongoing between the two clubs and the Rossoneri are not keen to sell, but that could change as the transfer window starts to draw to a close. Leao has a €150m release clause in his contract, but it’s hard to imagine Chelsea matching this.

The Portuguese forward’s contract renewal will be handled once new owner Gerry Cardinale has completed his takeover, and talks are likely to be tough.

  1. Milan would be wise to sell him ASAP while there is still time to his contract, its clear that he is griddy and wants a huge salary, which is totally udeserved, so if there’s a chance to cash in big money on him then so be it, he is too lazy and too inconsistent to demand those wages and its not sure Maldini wont fail again with the renewal so it probably is the wisest move for MIlan, that way we would have enough money to get all the other areas we need like a real RW.

Considering Leao’s age and talent and last season’s form this is one of the funniest things I have ever read about footbal.

  3. No to a sell. Release clause or nothing.

We’ll see how serious Cardinale is soon enough when he completes his take over.

  4. We paid over 7 million for Ibra to be on the bench and be “inspiring”, why not offer leao a bigger salary

  5. I’d sell him for anything over 60m and get another LW prospect.
Milan could thrive on players that really want to be at the club, thus accepting lower wages (eg Tonali, CDK).

Too much attention going on to him and even though he helped the team win the tittle, he is far from deserving the highest wage.

So, thank you Leao and goodbye. He won’t be in the top 3-5 LW’s in the world because of his attitude and inconsistency. And in the future Milan needs top players.

  6. 100m plus Pulisic, I’d drive him myself. I find it difficult to believe this is a priority for Chelsea since they have Sterling, Pulisic etc who play LW.
