Tammy Abraham is breaking records for Roma in his debut Serie A season, but while Chelsea have a buy-back clause, it’s reported Manchester United could prepare a bid this summer.

The England international has been a sensation in the Giallorossi colours, scoring 23 goals in 40 competitive matches for the club.

He was picked up from Chelsea for €40m plus bonuses, but Chelsea do have a buy-back clause set at €80m that can only be activated from 2023.

According to Il Messaggero newspaper, Abraham might be heading back to England before that, because Manchester United have set their sights on the 24-year-old.

They are currently struggling to find a consistent centre-forward, even using Cristiano Ronaldo in a role he is famously not fond of.

Roma would need a huge offer to let Abraham go now, especially considering Chelsea have that clause in place as part of the deal.

However, while Chelsea are in the middle of a takeover and financial uncertainty, Manchester United have no such issues.

They also hope to lean on the strong friendship between Abraham and United player Jadon Sancho.

  1. I think this rumour is just baseless.

Man U would be hunting for a new manager first, it is VERY unlikely that they would just buy players before appointing new manager, who might or might not have preferred players he would like to have.
