Roma are discussing a deal with Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku and can take a key step forward in the final week of the summer transfer window, Matt Law details.

The report for the Telegraph highlights how the 30-year-old Belgian striker has changed his mind again and decided not to join Juventus, leaving the Blues in a difficult spot as the end of the transfer window fast approaches.

As such, Chelsea have now had to change their strategy and so are willing to let Lukaku leave on loan for the 2023-24 season, previously only considering definitive offers.

Roma are now in talks for the Belgian striker and are seemingly willing to pay his wages, which may be enough to agree a loan deal with Chelsea. No obligation to buy clause is expected to be attached.

Lukaku has grown tired of waiting for Juventus to find an agreement with the Premier League side so has now informed them of his desire to head to the Italian capital on loan. He is still not interested in making a move to Saudi Arabia.
