Cesare Casadei and Romelu Lukaku have not been included in the Chelsea squad for their pre-season tour in the USA.

Enzo Maresca has not included Italy talent Casadei and Napoli target Lukaku in his Chelsea squad for the upcoming pre-season tour in the USA.

Casadei scored three goals and provided two assists in 25 appearances across all competitions under Maresca at Leicester City in the first part of 2023-24 before returning to Chelsea for the second half of the campaign.

Official: Chelsea drop Casadei and Lukaku for pre-season USA tour

Former Italy striker Ciccio Graziani said today that the Italian midfielder should return to Serie A to fulfil his potential.

As reported by Tuttomercatoweb, the 21-year-old has attracted interest from Bologna and Lazio, but Juventus were also linked with the ex-Inter wonderkid in the past.

While Casadei’s omission is partially surprising, it’s undoubtedly not strange that Lukaku was left off Maresca’s team.

The Belgian striker has returned to Chelsea after a one-year loan spell at Roma and Napoli are determined to sign him once and if they send Victor Osimhen to PSG.

Trevoh Chalobah is also not part of the Chelsea squad. He’s previously been linked with Milan, but the Rossoneri are now in advanced talks to sign Strahinja Pavlovic from RB Salzburg.

  1. Well done. Another Italian ‘talent’ who chose money, and now chewed and spat out by the age of 21.
