Chelsea could send goalkeeper Kepa to Napoli

There are growing reports that Napoli could get goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan from Chelsea with obligation to buy.

The Partenopei are seeking a new shot-stopper with experience who can be an understudy to Alex Meret, but also help the young Italian to develop.

There are concerns too that if Meret doesn’t improve rapidly, then he will be pushed back onto the bench, just as he was by David Ospina over the last two seasons.

According to La Repubblica, Chelsea are now open to letting Kepa leave on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.

The Spain international was signed for an astonishing €80m from Athletic Bilbao in the summer of 2018 and his contract at Stamford Bridge runs to June 2025.

However, he has barely played over the last two seasons, benched by the strong performances of Edouard Mendy.

Napoli have been linked with other goalkeepers, including Ivan Provedel from Spezia and a loan for PSG shot-stopper Keylor Navas, who has lost first choice status to Gianluigi Donnarumma.
