There are growing reports that Napoli could get goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan from Chelsea with obligation to buy.

The Partenopei are seeking a new shot-stopper with experience who can be an understudy to Alex Meret, but also help the young Italian to develop.

There are concerns too that if Meret doesn’t improve rapidly, then he will be pushed back onto the bench, just as he was by David Ospina over the last two seasons.

According to La Repubblica, Chelsea are now open to letting Kepa leave on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.

The Spain international was signed for an astonishing €80m from Athletic Bilbao in the summer of 2018 and his contract at Stamford Bridge runs to June 2025.

However, he has barely played over the last two seasons, benched by the strong performances of Edouard Mendy.

Napoli have been linked with other goalkeepers, including Ivan Provedel from Spezia and a loan for PSG shot-stopper Keylor Navas, who has lost first choice status to Gianluigi Donnarumma.

  1. One thing’s for sure in my view. If Napoli want to stay in the top four, they simply must have someone other than Meret in goal. Meret may be physically fit, but he’s made some absolutely horrible decisions resulting in lost games. In my view he’s a lost cause, but that’s only my opinion.

  2. that’s why they are singing a GK between now and the end of the window, no question

He is far from a lost cause btw

  3. or go and buy a good goalie like
Justin Bijlow, Koen Casteels, Unai Simón, Álex Remiro, Rui Silva, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Luís Maximiano, perin=juve, Alexander Nübel, Walter Benítez,Alban Lafont, Predrag Rajković, Damián Martínez, José Pedro Malheiro de Sá, Illan Meslier, Robert Lynch Sanchéz, Lukáš Hrádecký, Yann Sommer, Pau López Sabata, handanovic
