Romelu Lukaku will join Inter on loan for €8m plus bonuses, but although there is no option to buy, Chelsea could be open to extending the temporary stay for another season.
Multiple sources today confirm the two clubs have agreed terms on the deal, just 10 months on from his €113m transfer to Stamford Bridge.
All of them have the same details, a dry loan for €8m plus up to €4m in bonuses based on Inter achieving certain objectives.
The Belgium international is accepting a pay cut from €12m per season net to €7.5m in order to push the move through.
However, Chelsea risk being in a similar tense position a year from now, because there is no option to buy and he therefore must return to London.
According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, this is on the minds of the Premier League chiefs and they could therefore renew the loan to Inter next summer to 2024.
At that stage, Lukaku would be 30 years old with a contract due to expire in June 2026.
His position now is very tricky, because pushing so hard for a return to Inter and making entirely clear how much he regretted the Chelsea transfer means he won’t be welcomed back by the fans or coach Thomas Tuchel.
Inter also won’t have the funds to buy the centre-forward back, but by the end of 2024, that price-tag may well have dropped significantly.

@Dzeko is not lazy just old and slow. Once he run out of gas in the second half of the season he was playing on a zombie-like-slow-motion mode. Even then he was scoring goals so maybe Correa will be the one to be let go with the arrival of Dybala Inter will have the depth to challenge on all competitions.
