There are reports Milan face competition from Chelsea in their bid for Vasco da Gama defender Dede.
According to SportMediaset, the Rossoneri have been in negotiations for the past three weeks.
However, Chelsea are intercepting these talks with an offer of their own thought to be worth €10m.
Milan reacted to this by raising their own proposal to €12m, but Vasco’s price-tag is even higher and they are eager to keep the bidding war going.
“Keeping hold of Dede is really very difficult,” Vasco da Gama director Cristiano Koehler confessed.
“We would all like to have him here with us next year, but he wants to take steps forward in his career and also find better deals in economic terms.
“We will deal with the situation, but without taking our fans for a ride. It’s true, Dede could leave.”
Dede is a 24-year-old full international centre-back and sweeper who in Brazil has been compared with Franz Beckenbauer.
His contract with Vasco runs until December 2014.
