Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel refused to comment on Kalidou Koulibaly’s imminent move to Stamford Bridge: ‘Maybe tomorrow or hopefully in two days…’
Koulibaly is already in London, where he will undergo his medical with the Premier League giants before signing a five-year deal worth €10m per season.
However, Tuchel is unwilling to comment on the defender’s signing until the transfer is completed.
“It’s too early to talk about [this],” he said in his latest interview, as quoted by Football Daily.
“I have to disappoint you, I won’t comment on it, we have to do it maybe tomorrow or hopefully in two days.”
This means that Chelsea expect to announce Koulibaly’s signing within 48 hours. At that point, Tuchel will talk about his new star defender.
Koulibaly had rejected a €6m-a-year contract extension offer from Napoli, where his deal would expire in one year. Chelsea will pay €40m, including add-ons, to secure his signature.
