Milan are expecting to receive offers for star forward Rafael Leao from Chelsea and Manchester City in January, reports suggest.

The 23-year-old Portuguese forward has continued to shine under Stefano Pioli this season, scoring six goals and providing nine assists in 17 appearances across Serie A and the Champions League. Leao’s impressive performances on the pitch have seen him attract the attention of many top clubs and now things are set to heat up.

As detailed by TMW, Chelsea are ready to submit an offer for Leao in January, keen to get ahead of their competition for the Milan star. A Blues director spoke directly with the Portuguese winger months ago to explain the new Todd Boehly project and the player has started to develop a friendship with some members of Chelsea’s squad.

Chelsea could try to include some players like Armando Broja or Hakim Ziyech to try and lower the overall costs of a deal, which’ll likely be worth around €120m total.

Manchester City have also been keeping a close eye on Leao and are expected to submit an offer for him in January, competing with Chelsea for his signature.

The 23-year-old’s contract expires with Milan in 2024 and he hasn’t been willing to pen a new deal yet, wanting to push back negotiations to after the World Cup in Qatar.

  1. This is the problem with money and football, the 3 or 4 richest teams buy all the best players. This only makes those clubs even more rich and successful, and ultimately destroys the competitiveness of the smaller clubs.

  2. Football is dead. The PL is utterly toxic, and it compromises all the other leagues in turn. I wonder how many more years people will lap up a club bankrolled by the UAE winning the league over and over and over.

  3. You are all idiots. Instead of creating a Super Leaugue with the PL clubs (and make PL even richer as half of their clubs would compete in that league), a new Champions League should be created without the Brits. They left the EU, anyway.

  4. But this still wouldn’t be a final solution. A salary cap and a proper financial fair play are a must.
As things stand, this is not sport anymore. The only REAL FOOTBALL is seen at the World Cup when countries play.

  5. Very disheartening. The super league is already here, with the EPL as IT and the other leagues as feeder leagues to develop players for them to come and buy when they are great. UEFA does not seem much bothered by this state of affairs otherwise they would install a REAL Fair Play rule, not the sham in place now.

  6. Don’t give PSG and Premiership any more star players, they will come back and knock the Italians out 10X over.
