The Guardia di Finanza have provisionally seized Maurizio Setti’s majority stakes in Hellas Verona as the club president is under investigation for bankruptcy.

Guardia di Finanza, the Italian Financial Police, said in a statement on Wednesday that Setti’s majority stakes in Verona have been seized.

The decision was taken by the Bologna Prosecutor following the bankruptcy of a company connected to Setti and Verona’s holding company, Star Ball Srl, which owns a 100% stake in the Serie A club.

The Verona President is suspected of having passed on the club’s control from the first company before its bankruptcy to Star Ball Srl.

Setti is no longer in control of the club’s majority stakes and the Bologna judge for preliminary investigations has named the accountant Stefano Reverberi as the person in charge of Verona’s shares.

Earlier in December, Verona denied an investigation for tax fraud following reports of documents being seized at the club’s headquarters.
