Daniel Siebert has been appointed for Milan-Chelsea, so here’s a profile of the German referee who will officiate the Rossoneri for the second time in his career.

The 38-year-old has been an international referee since 2015 and Italian clubs’ record in games officiated by the German is quite favourable with just one loss in 10 games.

Siebert was the referee in Milan’s 1-0 away win over Sparta Praha in the Europa League group stage in 2020-21, the only Milan game he’s officiated so far.

The only game lost by an Italian club with the German referee in charge is last season’s Inter-Real Madrid at San Siro, won 1-0 by Carlo Ancelotti’s men. However, the Nerazzurri won against Ludogorets in the Europa League Round of 32 on February 27, 2020.

Juventus have collected one win and one draw with the German referee on the pitch. Atalanta picked up two stalemates, Napoli won one match, and Italy have a perfect record with two wins from two.

Siebert will officiate a Chelsea game for the first time in his career on Tuesday night.

However, he was appointed for the Youth League Final between the Blues and PSG in 2016, won 2-1 by the English team.

The most important matches he’s overseen in his career are probably the DFL-Supercup Final between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich in August 2019 and a Euro 2020 Round of 16 clash between Wales and Denmark.

Siebert has taken charge of 143 Bundesliga matches, 13 in the Europa League, 10 in the Champions League and five in the Champions League play-offs.
