Inter could opt to start with Denzel Dumfries and Hakan Calhanoglu against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The match kicks off at 17.45 UK time.

Coach Simone Inzaghi has to make some decisions and could favour Dumfies and Calhanoglu over Matteo Darmian and Matias Vecino when Inter search for their first points in the group stage.

The Champions League journey passes through Ukraine once again and even if it’s only the second round of fixtures, it could be very important for the final outcome.

Both Inter and Shakhtar hope to bounce back from defeats to Real Madrid and FC Sheriff Tiraspol respectively.

Roberto De Zerbi made many changes in the championship last time but should side a strong XI against the Nerazzurri.

Alan Patrick is expected to be back in the attacking trident with Tete and Pedrinho, behind Lassina Traore, who is spearheading the team up front.

Inzaghi should arrive in the usual 3-5-2 formation, but there’s a battle between Darmian and Dumfies at full-back.

Calhanoglu and Vecino are fighting for a jersey in the middle of the park too, but for the rest it would be the same Inter that played against Atalanta in Serie A.

Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez should continue in attack, while Joaquin Correa and Arturo Vidal are back in the squad and will be on the bench.

Probable line-ups: Shakhtar Donetsk vs. Inter

Shakhtar Donetsk (4-2-3-1): Pyatov; Dodo, Marlon, Matviyenko, Ismaily; Maycon, Stepanenko; Tete, Alan Patrick, Pedrinho; Traore

Inter (3-5-2): Handanovic; Skriniar, De Vrij, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Brozovic, Calhanoglu, Perisic; Dzeko, Lautaro

  1. Ineristi don’t care about Champions League ! All they care about is extending their record as the only Italian team to fail to pass the Champions League Group Stage from 3 years to 4 years !

  2. And Juve have been UCL runners-up the most times. How did they lose those finals? Oh various painful method. Trashing in the hand of Real, Barca and Dortmund, unable to score against Hamburg and Ajax, lost the penalties to Milan. You name it.
