Champions League | Probable line-ups: Milan vs. Liverpool

by | Dec 7, 2021 09:14

Milan coach Stefano Pioli seems set to start with Junior Messias, Brahim Diaz and Rade Krunic in the attacking trident behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Rossoneri are fighting for a place in the last 16 of the competition and Pioli has decided against ‘fixed reference points’ in the attacking trident.

Thus, he seems set to pick three lively players who are capable of rotating in the trident and moving between the lines.

Krunic, Diaz and Messias are expected to support Ibrahimovic in attack against Jürgen Klopp’s men.

Mike Maignan is set to start in goal, with Pierre Kalulu at right-back, with Fikayo Tomori and Alessio Romagnoli in the heart of the defence. Theo Hernandez is certain to start at left, while Sandro Tonali and Franck Kessie should be in the middle of the park.

Liverpool coach Klopp said he would rotate for the match against Milan but Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are expected to start, on either side of Divock Origi.

Virgil van Dijk should be in defence too, with Thiago Alcantara in the midfield trident.

Probable line-ups: Milan vs. Liverpool

Milan (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Kalulu, Tomori, Romagnoli, Theo; Tonali, Kessie; Messias, Diaz, Krunic; Ibrahimovic

Liverpool (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Thiago, Morton, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Salah, Origi, Mane

Surely Florenzi and Saelemaekers will start?

    Are they injured?

Mostly a starting line up for Liverpool. Let’s see how many minutes he will give to all them

  3. Mil

What kind of Liverpool rotating is that?!

    Surely that’s not their line-up.
