Brahim Diaz will replace Charles De Ketelaere in Milan‘s attack against Chelsea, with Rade Krunic favourite over Tommaso Pobega in midfield.

It kicks off at 20.00 UK time.

The Rossoneri want to react after a 3-0 loss at Stamford Bridge last week and will host Graham Potter’s Chelsea at a sold-out San Siro.

Both sides have four points in three games, one fewer than Group E leader RB Salzburg.

De Ketelaere was added to Milan’s injury list on Monday, so Brahim will start again after scoring against Juventus on Saturday.

Mike Maignan, Davide Calabria, Simon Kjaer, Alessandro Florenzi, Alexis Saelemaekers and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are also out of action, but Junior Messias returns.

Krunic is favourite over Pobega in the middle of the park.

Stefano Pioli will likely use a 4-3-2-1 system with Diaz and Leao behind the sole striker Olivier Giroud.

Sergiño Dest goes to the bench with Pierre Kalulu starting at right-back and Matteo Gabbia in central defence with former Chelsea starlet Fikayo Tomori.

Milan-Chelsea: probable line-ups

Milan (4-3-2-1): Tatarusanu; Kalulu, Gabbia, Tomori, Theo; Krunic, Bennacer, Tonali; Leao, Brahim; Giroud.

Chelsea (3-4-2-1): Kepa; Chalobah, Thiago Silva, Koulibaly; James, Loftus-Cheek, Kovacic, Chilwell; Mount, Sterling; Aubameyang

  1. What is this love affair with Mr. Average, Krunic? No speed, no technique, no engine. Yet he starts in midfield in big games. A mystery? It seems every coach has that one player they cling to above all reason.

  2. Clearly, Pioli sees something in training that isn’t clear in matches.

He puts in a good shift, but he’s not as strong as Pobega, physically or in the air, I think.

He doesn’t have the creativity of Tonali or Bennacer ,neither quite the wirk-re ate or defensive tackling.

I guess he is the ckos we have to a bix-2-bod midfielder in-between the double pivot, with Kessie gone?
