The first leg of the Champions League Derby della Madonnina semi-final is on May 10 with Milan as hosts, with the decider staged by Inter on May 16 and already makes history.

Obviously, both fixtures will be played at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, in the San Siro area of the city.

It is the second time that these city rivals have faced off in a Champions League semi-final after the 2002-03 edition.

However, things have certainly changed, because at the time Milan qualified for the final on ‘away’ goals after a 1-1 draw.

The away goals rule has been scrapped in European competition, so if the tie is level on aggregate it will go to extra time and potentially even penalties.

Inter already beat Milan 3-0 in the Supercoppa Italiana on January 18, staged in Saudi Arabia, so with the home and away Serie A meetings too, this is the first time ever that the clubs have faced off five times in a single season.

The Rossoneri won 3-2 in Serie A on September 3 and lost 1-0 on February 5.
