It kicks off at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

La Dea won the Europa League in May, but have stuttered so far this season amid injuries and transfer controversy, so can now finally settle down to finding a formation.

Arsenal pushed Manchester City all the way last term for the Premier League, but have a lot of players missing for this trip.

Gasperini: ‘Atalanta wanted victory, but played on Arsenal’s level’

Marco Carnesecchi

“We played really well and are happy. We defended very well and hadn’t done that in a while, we are getting back our fitness levels. We players dream of nights like this and have to enjoy them,” Carnesecchi told Sky Sport Italia.

“Mateo mustn’t worry, as he is a great lad and player. We are all close to him, he mustn’t be affected by this, we are all behind him. It was a good point against a strong opponent.

“It was an important save, I honestly can’t remember at this point, but I want to congratulate my teammates for their defensive work that asphyxiated Arsenal. I saw the same kind of performance that we had last season in Europe and that’s reassuring.

“You dream of these nights when you were a kid. My family was in the stands and I dedicate this Champions League debut to them. I am very happy and this result boosts our confidence.

“We are aiming to become something special because we have what it takes to achieve that.”

Desperate tackle on Lookman!

86'

Through ball for Sterling is over-hit, Gasperini fuming over Atalanta‘s failure to attack more.

83'

Arsenal look pretty content to come away from Bergamo with a 0-0 draw. Which shows you how far Atalanta have grown on the European stage in recent years. That Europa League victory made opponents scared.

81'

Lazar Samardzic getting ready to come on for Atalanta.

80'

A trademark surge forward from Calafiori, but then the Havertz ball over the top is over-hit.

79'

Zaniolo cross to nobody, Raya can intercept. Lookman didn’t make the run. Which is what happens when Atalanta don’t really have a striker, as such.

The last Champions League Arsenal game to end 0-0 was against Marseille at Emirates Stadium on 1 November, 2011.

77'

Rice’s free kick is dreadful and straight out of play. Which is what the so-called ‘foul’ on Havertz deserved.

76'

Again, Havertz goes down spectacularly easily under pressure to earn a free kick near the corner flag.

74'

Gabriel Martinelli runs onto a flicked-on Havertz pass, might’ve been offside, but fired over one-on-one with Carnesecchi anyway.

74'
Cuadrado close again!

Cuadrado again cuts inside from the left and curls right-footed, this one is more ferocious, but a bit less precise.
