Juventus crashed out of the Champions League Round of 16 for the third year running, beaten at home 3-0 by Villarreal after two avoidable penalties and a Pau Torres tap-in from a corner.

The first leg ended 1-1 with Dusan Vlahovic scoring within 32 seconds of his Champions League debut. The away goals rule has been abolished in Europe this season.

Champions League Liveblog: Juventus vs. Villarreal

Paulo Dybala, Giorgio Chiellini and Federico Bernardeschi were back and fit for the bench, with Leonardo Bonucci, Alex Sandro, Weston McKennie, Denis Zakaria and Federico Chiesa injured. Villarreal had Gerard Moreno and Francis Coquelin available again, but Alberto Moreno joined Paco Alcacer and Ruben Pena on the treatment table.

Alvaro Morata forced a tough save after 10 minutes with his header from six yards on a Juan Cuadrado cross, then Vlahovic stung Geronimo Rulli’s gloves from distance.

Vlahovic thought he’d scored on 21 minutes, getting in front of his defender to turn a Mattia De Sciglio cross onto the bar from a very tricky angle.

Giovani Lo Celso curled wide and Vlahovic couldn’t get enough power to a header, while after the break Adrien Rabiot tested Rulli from distance.

Villarreal didn’t have a shot on target, but they didn’t have to, because Daniele Rugani mistimed his tackle on Francis Coquelin and the referee awarded a penalty after the VAR on-field review. Gerard Moreno had just come on, making his comeback from injury, and immediately converted the spot-kick despite Wojciech Szczesny getting his fingertips to it.

Villarreal managed to double their lead too, as a corner found Pau Torres completely unmarked to tap in from five yards.

It got even worse in the final minute, as Gerard Moreno robbed Danilo and Matthijs de Ligt charged down Arnaut Danjuma’s effort with his arm. Danjuma converted the penalty, sending Szczesny the wrong way.

  1. Not played one decent game of football under Allegri this season. We look a disjointed mess and it is depressing to watch. Players like Rabiot, Alex Sandro, Rugani , Cudrado are not good enough. What is Allegri’s obsession with Rabiot ???? Absolutely awful for Juve. Allegri out and get the under 23 coach in

  2. Allegri sank us with all his negative tactics:( Arthur Melo has zero creativity in him. The second half was dreadful

  3. Allegri has not much to do with this. Out your best two defenders (Rugani playing in a 1/8 of CL is a travesty), no decent LB, no decent RB (it is not Allegri’s fault Juventus sold Cancelo), an awful midfield with terrible players, and a good 9 and another one mediocre. Blame Allegri all you want, this is the result of poor planning and come one this is Villareal, not Manchester City.

  4. The midfield was so slow that i wanted to speed up the recording ,then i realised
it was the usual poor play that we have got used to. this season. Predictable and boring and some choice words,
What is the point of buying a decent striker when you do not give him any service,
Allegri can not spin his words this time. The performance deserved what it got.

  5. 😂 😂 😂.😂.😂. I told you stupid Allegri fan boys that he was and has always been an imposter. FRANKIE WHERE ARE YOU?

  6. Allegri said he wanted ‘patience’ which for him must have meant play the game at walking pace. Juve should be blowing teams like Villarreal away. Let’s hope the Rome derby serves up a treat this weekend and we forget about this quickly as fans of Serie A.

  7. Rugani Rabiot and Arthur have to go. Juve should of kept Demiral. Him and De Ligt could of been a strong partnership. Don’t think Pogba can fix this team but happy to take him for free and would like to be proved wrong. We need midfielders that can tackle and run at players.

  8. Against the 7th best team in Spain lol. Not a shocking result as Villarreal are the Europa League holders and won more in Europe then Juve in the last 26 years lol. Damn I was hoping that they would advance as the big guns would have torn them to pieces. Allegri must have thought that he was still playing with the away goals rule. What a clown!!!

  9. I’m afraid we get another big disappointment this month by Italy elimination!😳
Italy is in decline some pathetic are happy to see Italian teams go out! 3 English, 3 Spanish, 0 Italian

  10. I don´t want to hear a single Italian talk about Seria a being a top team after this evening. Not a single team in the quarterfinals.

  11. Danilo Danilo Danilo. He is going to get a new contract as well. As for de Ligt he has always been overrated and clumsy. He does like a bit of hand to hand combat.🤣.

  12. A Super League team that cannot defeat the 7th best team in Spain and a total humiliation at home to boot.

  13. FRANKIE WHERE ARE YOU SON!!!

    YOU ARE AWFULLY QUIET TONIGHT.

Only Inter saved some pride as they at least battled with one of the very best clubs in Europe and got a win at Anfield which is one the toughest places to get anything from.

  14. Congratulations, and keep going Rabiot era is fantastic. Allegri and rabiot is best friends, just keep going… and not forget to give Sczeczny 5 year 10mln contract

  15. I am a fans of Juve and tonight they settled their title as a clown of europe

Very poor tactics from allegri for so loooonngggg time and how many more time do Juventus managements need to wake them up???

Better great in europe than in italy because serie a is not as great as premier league in term of money prize
So you can not build a champion team by winning serie a 100 times (that’s onky equal with 5/6 title in premier league)
If they can’t build a champion team by winning serie a than they must be super serious in europe and only satisifed with top 4 league (if they can’t be champion of europe, at least don’t get eliminated too early)

Really disappointed to see how the way they played…

  16. bring back Sarri.
juve are that absolute clowns of CL.
should only let 1 team from italy enter CL and Europa cuz we all know they will fail no matter how weak the opponent

  17. FRANKIE I KNOW YOU ARE HIDING UNDER YOUR BED. It is okay to be wrong as I have told you that PhD has always been a coat tail rider. Say what you want about Conte, but at least his teams have a style of play, grit and he can actually build a team from the bottom up. P$G would be mad to hire the grandad.

  18. This is only the result for having a bad team architecture or sports directors!

Juve has to many players of the same position and with the same characteristics!

Juve needs vertical an faster players!

Out: Dybala, Rabiot, Arthur, Morata, Bernardeschi, Kean, Sandro, de Sciglio, Chiellini, Bonucci (the last two because they are to old)!

  19. Allegri parks the bus in Spain and gets the result. People were complaining about the “negative” football. Juve kept attacking for 80 minutes and dominating possesion today, they got swept by some silly mistakes on the counter against the flow of the game. Again, it’s somehow Allegri’s fault. You guys are funny.

  20. Good see that there are still some deluded Juve fans out there. If that result had happened to a bigger club from Munich, to Madrid, West London to Liverpool a 5 alarm fire would be going off. Allegri can get away with this and he knows it as the club is rudderless from the top. They went full circle back to him and got thrashed despite how Villarreal played.

  21. inter ko because they only win 1-0 playing with 10 men away from home but juve lost 0-3 playing full team in home…now what you will say?

  22. It is true that if a Super League format was to come to fruition, Juventus would be the Norwich City of that league, fighting in the relegation zone luckily knowing that they could not get demoted. One has to ask do they even deserve to be there considering the fact they they fell heavily to one of Spain’s juggernauts (7th place in Spain).

  23. As a Milanista, I feel no sadness for Juve, but the stats of Italian football on the global stage certainly is depressing.

  24. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA…. Cypher? LORD ALLEGRI PATRON SAINT OF SLOW BALL? EmperorNero? Ibrahimm whatever? Rosario?… Remember when Inter lost?… Yeah! there you go… HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA… can’t stop myself! ROFL! This is sooooooooo sweet revenge. 3-0? Oh my god! Lost to who?

  25. The joke is on you clown face as I do not even support Juventus. But Inter fans cannot laugh as you still have a sponsor with some kind of charity token donation collection. Also to change the badge just to copy them is sad. Juventus are not an example to follow as they play some kind of prehistoric football authored by Da Vinci code Allegri AKA PhD. Copy Real Madrid or a team more successful.

  26. Against Villareal of all teams. At least Inter lost against Liverpool and were more than match in two legs. Juve can’t even muster a decent fight.. against Villareal… smh

  27. And now Juventus dont forget to give 5 year 8 million contract for dybala, 6 million for sczecny and 6 millions for rabiot, and sign rudiger for 7 million 5 year contract, very good team next year maybe we eill give good fight for someone like leipzig or psv eindhoven in champions league

  28. Inter fans should be quiet as hell. You had one good game in cl and that was from a amazing shot from Lautaro. Stop pretending that you accomplished something

  29. Problem with juventus and CL is that in CL you can not buy referees. Juventus is accustomed to get advantage in Serie A but yesterday they showed true colors.

  30. One good game? Even when Inter lost, they dominated against Madrid and Liverpool first leg where they hit the post and conceded a deflected goal. Juve had never once played at equal terms even against Europe’s second best teams. Keep excusing your sad team and Allegri with his negative slow tactic, the shame of Italy.

  31. Hahaha Inter fans forget so easily. You won by sheer luck (3 shots on the post for Liverpool) a Liverpool side than never went out of first gear and were comfortably protecting their 2-0 lead from the first game, and you act like you won the cup.

Remember when Juve went to Bernabeu and thrashed Zidane’s Real that had won 2 in a row and won that year as well? Remember when they thrashed Barca twice? Remember when they knocked out other good sides like Atletico, Dortmund and Spurs? But that wasn’t an impressive feat or anything because they didn’t won the cup, right? But Inter playing better than Pool for 15 minutes is suddenly an achievement for Inter and Italian football lmao.

  32. Just a quck reminder that neither Ajax, Lyon, Porto or Villarreal are invited to the Super League.

Its in Juve´s DNA to be the laughing stock in Europe. Will never change.

    Fino alla fi… Villarreal

  33. Always a dominant force in Italy, always a flop in Europe. Perhaps the playing field in Europe is more even?

  34. To all the Juve haters, mostly Inter supporters, yes we lost but we’re not making excuses like some of you are. “We played well against Madrid or hit the post against Liverpool” At the end of the day you lost, no matter how good you played. If you are true supporter of Italian football, you should want all Italian teams to succeed in Europe not matter how much you hate the side. I’ll be watching Atalanta tomorrow and supporting them as should the rest of you but come the weekend I’ll want them to lose.

  35. These Paratici transfers are really paying off!

The “Old Lady” officially became Old Clown in Europe: Ajax, Lyon, Porto and now Villarreal.

PS: Supporting Atalanta and Roma in Europe, but never this historically proven cheating club.

Why do you think Agnelli`s team never performs in Europe?!

  36. Yes Homer Inter lost. At the end of the day while Inter were equal to Madrid and Liverpool, the individual quality tells no lies. Benzema and Salah are easily the top 3 players in the world. That’s just the state of Italian football at the moment where we lack that kind of player even though as a team we’re certainly not that inferior.

However when you lost against a team with players like Danjuma and Capoue then everyone will rightly condemn you. Juve looked inferior during two legs, that’s already way past excuses or lack of luck. Self awareness is not a thing apparently.

  37. Where is Cypher to write this is Inter`s fault?

Marotta left juventus and now look at them, unable to recover after all those bad sporting decisions.

  38. That’s what happened when you always buying refs to win league.. The quality of serie A is just degraded, with no new fans, no investor, no money, nothing.. because people get bored watching Rube always win with refs help.. Italian football is just sinking, and everyone knows who’s the culprit is.. Rube fans, you all just, well, clown
