In a huge surprise, Serie B side Como have reportedly snapped up ex-Monaco, Chelsea, Barcelona and Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas thanks to Dennis Wise.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the deal is done for a two-year contract.

The plan could also be for him to eventually take over a coaching role at Como following his retirement.

Fabregas just turned 35 in May and was a free agent after the end of his contract with AS Monaco.

The Spain international is not yet ready to wind down his career completely after experiences at Arsenal, Barcelona, Chelsea and Monaco.

He had also been linked with Lecce, who just earned promotion to Serie A by winning the Serie B Championship in 2021-22.

However, it would seem as if Fabregas has instead chosen Como, who were promoted from Serie C in 2021 and last season finished 13th in the 20-team Serie B league.

The club went bankrupt in 2016 and had to start again from the Serie D amateur division.

Como took a significant turn when taken over by London-based company SENT Entertainment Ltd in April 2019.

They also hired former Chelsea player Dennis Wise, who is their current director of sport and reportedly convinced Fabregas to join them.

Man shoild retire, he’s too old – hence only good enough for serie b not even good enough for the 2nd spanish division
