This looks like being one of the more interesting groups to watch in the Champions League this season and both teams will know that at least a point will be vital here. Celtic may not be the favourites to win with the bookies, but they will rely on their fantastic home support to help them get through.
The Glasgow side have started their domestic campaign in typical good form. But it is the Champions League where the club want to show that they belong – and a home win against Lazio would go a long way in proving that.
The defeat in Rotterdam to Feyenoord is nothing to be embarrassed about but it will be the home games where Celtic need to pick up some points. It should be a good game on Wednesday and a win is well within Celtic’s reach.
Lazio are struggling for form this season so far and Maurizio Sarri could do with some good news in Europe to put out some of those fires at home. Only a dramatic goal from keeper Ivan Provedel saved a point against Atletico and a draw here would be a good result.
Lazio has recovered form slightly in Serie A but a game away at Milan at the weekend before this tie is not the ideal preparation for the Aquile.
That being said, there is enough firepower in the Lazio side to worry Celtic next week – and Ciro Immobile always has to be considered when it comes to predicting who might get on the scoresheet.
