Brescia President Massimo Cellino, former owner of Leeds United, sacked Davide Possanzini after just two games, blaming him because he ‘wanted to play like Roberto De Zerbi, while the team needs long balls.’

Possanzini, a former captain of Le Rondinelle was sacked after just two games in charge of the team in typical Cellino fashion.

Brescia lost both games under the former striker, but according to Bresciaingol, the club’s owner was particularly unhappy with the coach’s playing style.

According to the report, Cellino blamed the coach in front of the team during the break of Saturday’s Serie B clash against Benevento. The result was 0-0 after 45 minutes, but the Rondinelle eventually lost the match.

The site, covering Brescia news daily, quotes ‘primary sources’ at the club.

Cellino reportedly sacked Possanzini because he ‘wanted to play like Roberto De Zerbi, building up from the back, while the team needs long balls for Florian Ayè.’

Brescia are struggling in the relegation zone with 25 points in as many matches, one behind Benevento in 17th place.

They’ve had four coaches this season: Josep Clotet Ruiz, Alfred Aglietti, Davide Possanzini and Daniele Gastaldello, who was hired last week to replace Possanzini.

Ruiz was sacked after round 18 and re-hired just for just two games from matchday 21 to 23.

Cellino was also the owner of West Ham and Leeds United in England and Cagliari in Serie A. He has sacked 52 coaches in his football career.
