Massimo Cellino has admitted that he may agree to sell Cagliari to the American group of investors currently in the bidding.

The consortium led by Luca Silvestrone was thought to have fallen behind Tommaso Giulini’s bid after Cellino was reported to have called off Monday’s meeting with the former, over apparent continued concerns about how the group would be funding their proposed takeover.

However, in a text message sent to journalist Ivan Zazzaroni, the new Leeds United owner has indicated that a turnaround is on the cards.

“Tomorrow I will meet with the Americans,” Cellino is reported by Zazzaroni to have written.

“Given that the supporters want them, I think that I will accept their proposal for the sake of Sardinia, although this will prolong my agony a little.”
