Brescia President Massimo Cellino has sided with Italy’s Minister of Sport Vincenzo Spadafora and calls for the government to “stop football”.

Le Rondinelle sat bottom of the Serie A table when football stopped in Italy and are nine points away from safety with Genoa at 17th on 25 points.

But the patron Cellino believes they should not be spending their time working on different hypotheses to resume the campaign and asks the government to intervene and close it down.

“It’s vital to stop football. But we might need the Minister to tell us,” Cellino told the Corriere dello Sport. “I’ll just say this: this season is gone.

“We hope to be able to resume next season; it would already be a good thing.”
