According to Il Corriere dello Sport, José Mourinho has decided to remain at Roma until the end of his contract in 2024, despite interest from Newcastle United and PSG.

Mourinho’s contract in the capital expires in June 2024, and the Special One has recently claimed that he’d need to meet the club’s owners to plan his future at the Stadio Olimpico.

Nevertheless, Il Corriere dello Sport claims Mourinho has already decided to remain at Roma until the end of his contract.

The decision was made before the international break which the Special One spent in London with his family. According to the report, Mourinho is one of Newcastle’s targets to replace Eddie Howe if the English coach leaves in the summer.

He is also on good terms with PSG director Luis Campos, but the Special One is reportedly convinced to see out his contract with the Giallorossi.

Mourinho’s decision could persuade Paulo Dybala and Chris Smalling to stay at Roma for one more season. La Joya has a €12m clause for clubs outside Serie A and €20m for Italian sides. Smalling’s contract on the other hand expires this coming June.

In the meantime, Roma’s commercial director Michael Wandell has reached an agreement for the pre-season in Asia and not in Algarve, Portugal, where the Giallorossi trained last summer and during the World Cup break in December.
