According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Milan are in ‘advanced talks’ with Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gündogan who is available as a free agent.

The contract of the Germany international expires this coming June and according to the Rome-based paper, the Rossoneri have opened talks with the experienced midfielder.

Barcelona are also negotiating with the 32-year-old, but according to the report, Milan are in ‘advanced talks’ with the ex-Borussia Dortmund star.

Journalist Fabio Mandarini wrote in Saturday’s printed edition of the newspaper (page 17) that the Rossoneri are ‘confident’ that Gündogan will move to the Stadio Meazza in the summer.

However, the midfielder will make a decision about his future after next week’s Champions League Final against Inter in Istanbul.

Milan announced Rafael Leao’s contract extension on Friday and have already secured their first two signings for next season, with Daichi Kamada and Marco Sportiello joining the club on free transfers in July.

  1. Somehow I find this difficult to believe. Between Man City and Barcelona, the wages he must be on and being offered are definitely out of our wage structure. I can only imagine that his entourage are using Milan to get an even better deal with Barcelona.
He is 32 years old. We shouldn’t cripple ourselves trying to get him.
