The Uruguayan striker has been heavily linked with the Bianconeri, with some stories even claiming that a deal is already in place for the summer, contingent on the sale of Paul Pogba.

French newspaper Le Parisien is this morning carrying quotes from an unnamed person, who it claims is a member of the player’s entourage, stating that he could leave the French capital.

“Edinson understands that in the interests of the team he has to play out wide,” the paper quotes its source as saying.

“He’s done that for two years now, but that’s not to say the situation suits him. He only plays in the centre of the attack, his preferred position, when [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic is out.

“He needs to play in that position consistently to fully express the qualities which made him top scorer in the Italian League [for Napoli in 2012-13].

“There’s no way Edinson will spend another season with PSG if the sporting situation doesn’t change.”

Le Parisien believes that Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Manchester United would be candidates for Cavani’s signature, but points out that President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has repeatedly affirmed his faith in the player.
