Edinson Cavani and Aurelio Di Laurentiis have held a press conference to announce the former's contract extension with Napoli.

The Uruguayan has signed a new deal that runs until 2017, with club President De Laurentiis revealing that it will contain a €60m buy-out clause.

“There will be no aeroplanes, I am very happy to announce I am staying with Napoli,” began the 25-year-old forward.

“I was convinced to stay after meeting with the President in Cardiff earlier this summer, and there was never any intention of seriously moving after that.”

De Laurentiis flanked Cavani throughout the press conference, and in typically comic fashion decided to scare supporters by joking that El Matador was actually moving.

“At times, marriages come to an end,” the movie mogul smiled. “Unfortunately Edinson wants to go to England to Manchester, that cold city.”

Cavani will earn approximately €4.5m a season.
