Napoli striker Edinson Cavani has suffered a knee injury while on international duty with Uruguay in the Copa America.

The hitman was stretchered off after some rough challenges during the 1-1 draw with Chile.

“The medics say it's a sprained knee, including knee ligament damage,” declared Uruguay manager Oscar Washington Tabarez.

“The worst fouls on Cavani were in the opening moments of the game. It's very unlikely we'll see him take part in the next game with Mexico.”

New tests are required, as the ligament damage could conceivably keep him out for several weeks.
