Former Italian international Franco Causio says he’s ‘not convinced’ by Antonio Conte’s latest squad, and echoes Roberto Mancini.

Mancio said earlier today that he does not believe oriundi – people born outside of Italy, but of Italian descent – should play for the Azzurri and Causio agrees.

“The latest call-ups have not convinced me,” the 1982 World Cup winner told Radio Onda Libera.

“The latest call-ups have not convinced me,” the 1982 World Cup winner told Radio Onda Libera.

“I’d have preferred to see some Under-21 players, rather than [Mirko] Valdifiori who is 28 years old, or the oriundi.

“That would seem more logical, but I always respect those who have been chosen.”
