Gaetano Castrovilli hopes to return to Italy’s national team thanks to his performances at Lazio: ‘I am tired of injuries.’

The Italian midfielder, a EURO 2020 winner with Italy, held his first press conference as a new Lazio player on Tuesday.

He moved to the Stadio Olimpico on a free transfer after the end of his contract with Fiorentina.

“It was easy to choose Lazio. I strongly wanted to come here, and I am very happy,” said the 27-year-old, who had undergone knee surgeries in December 2022 and August 2023.

“I am fit now; I come from one and a half years of total darkness. I can be reborn at Lazio, and I can’t wait to test myself. I am tired of injuries. I hope they are in the past now. My target is to return to the national team.”
