Fiorentina are said to be getting closer to an agreement for a new Gaetano Castrovilli contract, while Lorenzo Venuti is heading to Lecce.

The Viola had been concerned that Italy international Castrovilli was coming to the end of his current deal, which will expire in June 2024.

Negotiations to work out an extension had so far failed to progress and it made a summer sale very likely.

However, Tuttomercatoweb claim that new talks have allowed both parties to edge closer to an extension to June 2027.

Meanwhile, full-back Venuti was allowed to leave Fiorentina as a free agent at the end of his contract and is reportedly on the verge of signing for Lecce.

It is expected to be a two-year deal with an option for a third.

This represents a return for Venuti, who already wore the Lecce jersey in the 2018-19 campaign while on loan from Fiorentina.

The 28-year-old is a product of the Fiorentina youth academy, going on loan to Pescara, Brescia, Benevento and Lecce.
