The first leg ended 3-0 for the Giallorossi at the Stadio Olimpico, the second leg of the Europa League Round of 16 will be in Kiev on Thursday at 17.55 GMT.

“Every coach, including me, feels the pressure to get results,” said Castro in his press conference.

“I know full well this is a difficult match, but football is a world of opportunity and we have everything required to make the most of our opportunity tomorrow.

“I do not believe in miracles, I believe in hard work and sometimes that brings rewards. Were you in Zagreb against Dinamo? Did you think we could overturn that result? Well, we did.

“I know perfectly well that it’s difficult, but I hope to win. If Roma win, then we can only tip our hats to them.”

This is a return home for Roma coach Paulo Fonseca, who was on the Shakhtar Donetsk bench for several years.

“We’ve crossed paths many times, the first when I was working at Porto and he arrived as head coach. We saw each other every day, exchanged opinions on everything, then things didn’t go well there for Fonseca and I took over the first team.”
