The minnows fought back from a goal down for their biggest ever Serie A victory, albeit aided by Luca Rizzo’s red card.
“We managed to win a great game, we played in the Carpi style and attacked Genoa all over the field,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.
“We interpreted the game well and never let go. The lads wanted this victory, we achieved it and I am very happy for them.
“Carpi already overturned all odds last season to get into Serie A. You know we share a philosophy with Atletico Madrid, as you don’t always win with intricate passing, but also team spirit and character.
“Today we rediscovered our identity and have to continue along this path. All victories are wonderful, this one comes in a delicate moment of the season and we proved we've got nerves of steel.
“A side that runs as hard as ours is going to be difficult for any opponent and we don’t think we’re beaten before even starting against Milan on Thursday.”
