Carpi Coach Fabrizio Castori admits his team “can’t compare to Roma” on a technical level.

The Biancorossi are still searching for their first Serie A win, having won promotion last season, and face a daunting trip to Stadio Olimpico tomorrow.

“We can’t compare to Roma, who, regardless of consistency, are a top-quality team,” Castori admitted in his pre-match Press conference.

“We have to think about ourselves, and play with great concentration, sacrifice and humility. We’ll need to play as a team, we’ve shown we can do that but we also need the conviction to get a good result.

“We have to believe we can do it, but if there’s no spirit of sacrifice, then there’s less chance of bridging the technical gap to the top teams.

“Of course, Roma will be looking to get a result, just as we are. It’s normal that for them, playing against us is a game to be won.

“They’ve already lost to Sampdoria, they’re behind in the table. That will increase their desire and concentration to get a result.

“On the pitch, the teams will face each other with maximum commitment, and each will use their own weapons to try to perform to the best of their ability.

“The final judgement always comes on the pitch.”

Despite taking just two points from their opening five games, Castori insists he’s been satisfied with his side’s performances.

“We played two very good games against Fiorentina and Napoli. I’m happy with the performances. We could have taken more points, but we’ll take what we have, because it’s pointless looking back now.

“There’s still a belief that we can get results, even against the top teams. We’ll go to Rome with that spirit. The games are always there to be played, we’re not already beaten.

“I’m satisfied, because I’ve seen a growing team, but the fixture list has been difficult for us. We’ve played all the big teams except Juve and Milan.

“That has also helped us grow mentally, to understand that we can even do it against those teams.

“We’ll take forward the good things we did, now the fixtures will give us games which aren’t easy, but at least against opponents of our size.

“We mustn’t lose courage, we can’t get depressed. We’re thinking about growing, doing well and believing in what we do.

“We are the only ones who have scored against Inter, until the last match we were sixth in terms of shots on goal. The numbers give us confidence.”

Finally, the Biancorossi Coach spoke about Roma’s iconic captain, Francesco Totti.

“It’s an honour to play against him,” Castori admitted.

“It’s something we couldn’t even have thought about until a few years ago. He’s a great champion, he already has his place in the history of Italian football.”
