Milan winger Samu Castillejo deactivated his Twitter account after becoming a target of fans abuse.

The Spaniard was expected to leave the Rossoneri with Getafe interested in securing his services, but the La Liga side eventually signed Jakub Jankto from Sampdoria.

Milan reportedly want €8m for the Spaniard who must leave San Siro if the Rossoneri are to sign a new right-winger.

Some Rossoneri fans have therefore targeted Castillejo on social media, telling him to leave the club. Many went way too far, insulting the 26-year-old who was forced to deactivate his Twitter account.

However, many other Milan fans are using the hashtag #Castillejo to show support for the Spanish winger who joined the Diavoli from Villareal in a swap deal with Carlos Bacca in the summer of 2018.

He has 10 goals and 13 assists in 108 appearances with the Serie A giants and his contract expires in June 2023.

According to several reports in Italy, Milan haven’t received a formal bid for the winger since Getafe pulled out of negotiations.

  1. Poor guy. He always gave his best but his best is not good enough for Milan.

Personal attacks are not the way, but take a hint buddy. Have your agent find you a club where you are wanted.

  2. Jesus. I want him to leave as much as anyone but it’s nothing personal, and people need to quit being mean to the guy just cause he’s not talented enough. It’s not like he made the deal fall through or something.

  3. Excellent comments @Milan Fan and @Michael. Echoing those same sentiments. As much as I want him to move on and will rejoice on that day, I can’t stoop to those levels of personal abuse. Real pity this happened.

Though I can’t blame him for wanting to stay either…it’s a wonderful team and environment at Milan the moment and coming 2nd last season doesn’t help either as most clubs would be a step down. I wouldn’t want to leave it either.

Not long left for him in this transfer window though. Fingers crossed. It’s not personal Samu, it’s strictly business.

  4. @Milan Fan.

You’re quickly but surely becoming a cancer on this page.

On one hand you are vs the personal attacks, and then you go on to say that he needs to take a hint – effectively qualifying the disgusting abuse. Are you sure you aren’t one of the plastic cretins using social media to abuse players?

  5. Absolutely ridiculous. These so-called fans are the ones that should quit their association with the club. Cretins.
Samu has always shown loyalty and a willingness to “die” for the shirt and this is how these imbeciles show their appreciation…
We will become known as a club where the fans abuse players and that will quickly manifest itself in players refusing to come and in our own players losing any kind of loyalty to the club.
    Forza Samu and Forza Milan!

  6. @Milan fan.

Who is he supposed to take a hint from? People stalking his social media? 99.99% of these have never been to Italy, let alone San Siro. The fans tonight sang his name when he came on. Real fans say…aw take the hint you’re being abused and you should leave? You’re an embarrassment. Change your name to wannabe Man City / Ronaldo fan.

  7. Why verbal abuse? Don’t get me wrong, I’m ok with fans giving it to players who deserve it sometimes and I don’t like when people are overly sensitive as this generation has become. But Samu has always fought hard for the shirt, given his all, and has been an exemplary professional. He’s just not very good that’s all. So sell him but there’s no need for abuse. Thank him for his efforts and move on.
