Leandro Castan says he has “a great desire to be reborn in a footballing sense” after being unveiled as a Torino player on Thursday.
Castan joined Torino on a season-long loan from Roma in August, little over a month after he had made a similar move to Sampdoria, and the defender is desperate to put the health problems that have wrecked his recent career behind him.
“I think I’ve joined Torino at the right time,” he told the Granata’s oficial website.

“I think I’ve joined Torino at the right time,” he told the Granata’s oficial website.
“I have a great desire to be reborn in a footballing sense. I’m training to the maximum every day and I’m sure I’ll return to where I was before.
“The history of Toro is indeed very beautiful: I felt immediately very well here and I must say a big thank you to everyone, starting from the President.
“I want to do well because I’ve realised how much the fans care about us in this shirt and I want to give them as much happiness as possible.
“I feel good, but it’s normal that, having played so little in the last few years, I’ve lost a bit of responsiveness.
“Still, I’m coming back little by little and the most important thing is the great desire that I have of a revival.
“The national team? The first objective is to have a good season here at Toro. I’m sure the national team will take care of itself after that.
“Many years at Toro? I never saw Toro as a stepping stone, but now I’m only thinking about playing and doing well.
“Then, at the end of the season, I’ll take stock with the club and my agent and see what’s best for everyone.”
