Antonio Cassano’s half-brother has been arrested and accused of taking part in a robbery where €30,000 of items were stolen.

The former Inter, Milan, Roma, Sampdoria and Real Madrid star has never disguised his difficult upbringing and confessed without football he could easily have fallen in with a bad crowd.

That is the case for his half-brother, Giovanni, now 49 and already with a long rap sheet behind him.

Police confirmed Giovanni Cassano was arrested and accused of taking part in the break-in of an apartment in Sannicandro di Bari on June 10.

He was also charged with driving without a licence and having altered numberplates on his car.

Circa €30,000 was stolen from the apartment, including Rolex watches and jewellery.

Antonio and Giovanni Cassano share the same father, who left Antonio’s mother when the player was still a child.

For a period before he found success in football at local club Bari, Antonio would play truant from school and made friends with local hoodlums.
