Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero confirms Antonio Cassano will return “and become our symbol.”
The 33-year-old is undergoing a medical today and will sign a two-year contract worth €0.7m per season plus bonuses.
However, the deal will also include a clause allowing Samp to terminate immediately if he has one of his notorious Cassanate – the nickname Fabio Capello gave to the player’s tantrums.

“I am not signing him just for two years, but to let him become our symbol,” President Ferrero told news agency ANSA.
“He will prove that he is a great man.”
Cassano is a free agent after leaving Parma over unpaid wages in January and the club eventually went bankrupt.
This would be a return to Marassi, as he said the row with then-President Riccardo Garrone in 2010 was the biggest regret of his career.
