Antonio Cassano “turned down a lot of money so he could wait for Sampdoria,” revealed his agent, but there’s no offer.
FantAntonio celebrated his 33rd birthday yesterday, receiving greetings via Twitter from both Samp’s official account and President Massimo Ferrero.
“He has Sampdoria tattooed on his heart and bitterly regrets what happened five years ago,” agent Giuseppe Bozzo told Sampdorianews.net.

Cassano was thrown out of the club after insulting then-President Riccardo Garrone, which he cites as the worst mistake of his life.
“Right up to the moment he signed for Milan, he asked if there was really no chance he could stay at Sampdoria, perhaps by taking a pay cut. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t possible.
“His love towards Sampdoria remains intact, it’s not a passing sentiment. He wants Sampdoria, he is waiting for Sampdoria and turned down a lot of money from abroad so he could wait for Sampdoria. He said no to three concrete offers.
“If Sampdoria decided to take this step, they’d get the best Cassano. He has changed as a man, become a father to two splendid children and trained very hard over the last few months.
“He is pushed on by the dream of wearing the Blucerchiati jersey once more. If it happens, then it’d be wonderful. If not, he’ll have to just accept it.”
This week President Massimo Ferrero revealed the comeback nearly happened in January.
“I had almost made Mihajlovic accept Cassano, then he ruined it,” Ferrero told reporters at a book launch.
“He talked too much, called too many people and should’ve just been a good boy. He needs to be a good boy now too.”
